Antiques

This is in Westboro. I like the picture and the doggie, but I don’t really like the way they’ve redesigned the streetscape in Westboro. I think they’re probably going to use the same model for Bank Street in Centretown and the Glebe, and that’s a shame.

The problem is that they’ve made the sidewalks too wide at the expense of bike lanes. There’s really no place for bikes on the street in Westboro. It’s nerve-wracking to ride there, having to share the shoulder with parked cars while pedestrians could walk 10 abreast if they wanted to. (Trust me, they don’t want to.)

It’s a botched design. Whoever is responsible for it should try riding a bike sometime.

PS: This post is called Antiques, although it has nothing to do with antiques, because the word “Antiques” appears in the picture.

I always do that. It’s impossible for me to resist a word in a picture.
