This photo shows part of what is, according to the NCC pamphlet StreetsmArt, the most popular sculpture in Ottawa: “Balancing,” 1981, by New Brunswick artist John Hooper. It’s on the grass next to the NAC.
NCC = National Capital Commission
NAC = National Arts Centre
Everything’s national around here.
The sculpture is definitely popular, judging from the crowds of kids that are usually hanging off it. I posted a picture of another part of it on July 3, 2007, in a post called The city 4.
Brillante
XUP sent me a Brillante Weblog award. I’m sincerely touched. Thanks XUP!!

Now I should nominate seven other blogs for a Brillante, but I don’t actually read that many blogs. Most of them would just be duplicates. Still I think I can come up with two or three worthy blogs that might not have already been nominated.
If you get more than one Brillante, I think you should keep that quiet. Nobody needs to know!
I nominate the following blogs:
Kill everything
-Nik shares his art and fearlessly explores everything, including his psyche. Good work Nik.
A sibilant intake of breath
-Milan, the science boy. He knows his stuff and his photos are good too.
Eponymous horn
-Milan’s girlfriend Emily. She doesn’t like Ottawa, but I think if we are really nice to her she might come around.
Singing moon
-Coyote’s poetry and photo blog. Most of the time they’re pretty good.
Congratulations to all! You get to display the Brillante Weblog graphic on your blog. Now you should nominate some other bloggers.
Think of how good it felt to get a Brillante. Don’t you want to pass that along?

Pretty good most of the time? It’s everything I’ve ever aspired to…. Aw, shucks. Thanks!
Oh, and? I’ve nominated you for a second Brillante. Shhhh! Nobody needs to know….
Aw – Robin and the Coyote did each other. If you didn’t deserve more than one Brilliante, Robin, I’d turn you guys in to The Committee of blog award giving out rules.
There’s a Committee? I’m giving back all my Brillantes. Except for this one from XUP, of course.
