Bee 4

I’m finished with the bees now. I had to have ‘Bee 4′ so I could move on to ‘After’. (Coming soon!)

Gorgeous song

bayrakdarian.jpg On Tuesday I was riding my bike at Dow’s Lake and listening to Gian Ghomeshi’s Q on CBC Radio. His guest was the Canadian soprano Isabel Bayrakdarian, who has just released a CD of songs by the Armenian composer Gomidas.

Bayrakdarian sang a song live in the studio, accompanied by her husband Serouj Kradjian on the piano. I didn’t understand a word because it was in Armenian, but it was so beautiful and moving that I had to stop and listen until it was over. Did that ever happen to you?

Today I bought the CD and it’s great, but the song they performed in the studio isn’t on it. It is on the CBC podcast. Here it is:
Right-click here and select Save as. Save it somewhere on your computer and play it. The song starts about halfway through the podcast.

Percy St. graffiti update

The Percy St. doggie has not come back, but someone has added a philosophical note to the proto-submarine. (It’s right next to the real gone doggie. See Percy Street doggie.)

Thanks for the podcast link. I , too, was listening to CBC in the car but got home before she performed. Yes, the songs are beautiful. And thanks for the art update…

Art happens whether the philistines cut the grants or not. I just hope they don’t do anything vulgar or Stevie will have the whole underpass torn down to save us from the elite gala attending swine.

That’s a very elite underpass. Gala too!

Now it’s both visual AND literary. We need a little music and dancing in there and we’ve got a venue to rival NAC.
