My knowledge of morning glories comes from the old days when we were always looking for something we could consume that would get us high. I guess we couldn’t afford pot.

Legend had it that morning glory seeds contained lysergic acid, i.e., LSD. I never tried it. And nowadays I pretty much stick to alcohol.

For photo geeks only

You might notice that this picture is cropped square. Lately I’ve been cropping almost everything square. It’s because I watched the classic western High Noon and noticed how great everything looked in the square frame. It made me wonder why you’d ever crop to a rectangle.

Here is my review of High Noon. It’s over on the other part of this blog.

Rectangles just seem kind of arbitrary. What rectangle? Why that one? I can drag the cropping frame around in Lightroom or Photoshop same as anybody, and choose a rectangular crop that seems right. But I find that if I constrain the frame to a square, it looks just as good.

It seems to me that the square contains all the rectangles, so viewers make their own.

Is that deep or what?
