Most of the time when I’m on Bronson I’m just trying to shut it all out, but in this slow-walking mood I’ve been in, I kind of enjoy it. The pleasure of Bronson is in the details. (Headphones help.)

I work at this place, but not for any of those companies. I never knew it was the Fitzsimmons building. I thought it was the Nortak building.

I wonder who ASMG is? Their logo looks like an inukshuk. Funny how PWL’s logo has a star in it and Nortak’s has a moon. And I think it’s neat that Katimavik is in my building.

Next door is the former Doozy Candle. They moved to the market a few years ago. Long ago this building was the Ottawa Folklore Centre, now on Bank St. in old Ottawa South. Now it’s got a Chinese travel agent and a Spy Tech store.

Rasputin’s is famous for its naked folk singers. ;)

Forno Antico wood-burning pizza, right across the street. They really go through a lot of wood. They have to have their oven going all through the summer too. What a hard way to make a living!

Macdonald’s in the next block has these things out front. “Take me to your leader!”

Hurry and get your big bag potato from Ainee’s. I don’t go to Ainee’s very often, but I like the people there. They always have a joke or a wisecrack.

It’s hard to say why some businesses make it on Bronson and some don’t. I guess the optician didn’t make it.

You can buy a hand-made violin on Bronson. The violin maker survived while the optician didn’t. This is right next to the Queensway off-ramp.

Here comes the Queensway underpass. Being in there during rush hour is like being in hell.

Red stuff half price at the dry cleaner’s. I guess the troops like it when we wear clean red stuff.

Sandwich wars.

The Pitary. Is this a real place? Googling it turned up nothing. Maybe it’s just an old sign. I’m sorry I missed it.

Stoneface Dolly’s, on the other hand, is very much a real place. Now they have a larger location on Preston but this is the original.

Look at this apartment building. It reminds me of a grand piano. Maybe it sets you humming whenever you go in and out. It might just softly ping you like a tuning fork.

This is both the Erskine Presbyterian Church and the Iglesia Pentecostal Triunfantes de Jesu Cristo. And they are having a Hungarian luncheon and bake sale! This church knows how to make a go of it on Bronson.

Then there is this set of doorbells. How confusing!

Oh no! Those are the doorbells at my house. No wonder the pizza guy always rings all the bells.

I wish to report that my “No Flyers Please” sign really works. Life is a lot better without all those flyers!
