It used to be part of the grouping on Nepean Point that depicts Champlain and the astrolabe, but some native people led by Ovide Mercredi were concerned that the scout appeared in a subservient role to the mighty Champlain. Therefore the scout was taken out of the group and put by himself, eliminating from history the fact that none of the white explorers would have lasted a week in the new world without the help of the native people.</p><p><img

I thought it had &#8220;guilt-ridden white guys&#8221; written all over it. But according to <a
href="http://www.urbanphoto.net/blog/2007/06/07/ottawa-a-monumental-dilemma/"><strong>this article</strong></a>, I was mistaken.
