id="image2100" alt=1601.jpg src="http://www.robink.ca/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/09/1601.jpg" />

Updated Sept.26:
I received this from one of my Cambridge St. neighbours. It’s from city councillor Diane Holmes.

Dear Cambridge St. Resident,

Earlier today I met with Ottawa Fire Services Chief Rick Larabie to discuss the state of the 5 abandoned properties on Cambridge Street. Chief Larabie confirmed that Ottawa Fire Services have finalized, and will be issuing and order to repair/demolish these houses later today.

This order will serve as notice to the property owner that, under the Fire Marshall’s order, they have 30 days to repair or demolish these properties. Chief Larabie cautioned that these orders could be extended beyond the thirty day period in the event that the property owner has difficulty securing a demolition contractor, or for reasons such as the coordination of utility cut-offs.

I have been in contact with the owner and they have advised me that they are supportive of their removal.

I will continue to work with Ottawa Fire Services, City staff and the property owner to ensure that they are removed in timely, safe and orderly manner, which will respect the surrounding neighbourhood and its residents.

Regards,

Diane Holmes
