This is a huge day, a historic day.

It’s not that I think Barack Obama will necessarily be a great president. He inherits a massive deficit, a shattered economy, two hopeless foreign wars. He’ll probably fail. But I don’t care.

Just being a black man and winning the presidency, he’s done enough. History has turned a corner with us as its witness. Life in America will never be the same again.

Memorable moments:
* John McCain’s gracious concession speech. He got it right.
* The unexpected crowd at the white house, and the wrenching fear that they had come to loot and pillage and throw it all away. (But they had not!)
* Jesse Jackson in the crowd, weeping.

I won’t forget this night.
