Experts claim the old hotel&#8217;s goose isn&#8217;t necessarily cooked, but it&#8217;s hard to see how it&#8217;s going to survive this.</p><p>I tried to get down and take some pictures, but I got hung up at work. Some meeting. By the time I got there it was snowing like crazy and getting dark too. Here are a couple of pictures anyway.</p><p><img
id="image2477" alt=ruins1.jpg src="http://www.robink.ca/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/ruins1.jpg" /></p><p><img
id="image2478" alt=ruins2.jpg src="http://www.robink.ca/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/ruins2.jpg" /></p><p>Zoom at <a

href="http://elginstreet.blogspot.com/2007/12/bringing-down-somerset-house.html"><strong>Elgin Street Irregulars</strong></a> have better pictures. Go see them and then come back, ok?</p><p><H2>Snow storm</H2></p><p>Then I walked home in the snow. Here&#8217;s Somerset going west.</p><p><img
id="image2480" alt=somerset1.jpg src="http://www.robink.ca/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/somerset1.jpg" /></p><p>Look how cozy that little storefront on Somerset looks. I don&#8217;t know what&#8217;s going on in there nowadays. I remember it as an art gallery, a pet groomer, and a coffee shop with one table, and I&#8217;m told it used to house the used record store &#8220;The Turning Point,&#8221; now on Cooper. But these days it&#8217;s private.</p><p><img
id="image2481" alt=somerset2.jpg src="http://www.robink.ca/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/somerset2.jpg" /></p><p>Even car lights can look good on a snowy evening.</p><p><img
id="image2482" alt=somerset3.jpg src="http://www.robink.ca/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/somerset3.jpg" /></p><p>Now why would you post that? It&#8217;s hopelessly out of focus.</p><p><img
id="image2483" alt=somerset4.jpg src="http://www.robink.ca/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/somerset4.jpg" /></p><p>But I like it. It&#8217;s a good thing I&#8217;m so much more humble now than I used to be.</p><p><H2>Winter morning</H2></p><p>I also took a few pics on my way to work yesterday. Here&#8217;s the winter sun behind a tree.</p><p><img
id="image2484" alt=tree1.jpg src="http://www.robink.ca/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/tree1.jpg" /></p><p>Sun again.</p><p><img
id="image2487" alt=treesun.jpg src="http://www.robink.ca/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/treesun.jpg" /></p><p>Oh Canada! Sometimes I wonder if we live here on purpose, or if it&#8217;s just some kind of weird accident. Or a failure of the imagination. Maybe if we could imagine Jamaica, we&#8217;d be there.</p><p>Jamaica<br
