id="image770" alt=coat.jpg src="http://www.robink.ca/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/02/coat.jpg" />

A mangled shopping cart! Passers-by averted their eyes. It sent a chill down my spine.

An empty seat in the office of the beggars. It made the hair stand up on the back of my neck.

As I studied the clues it all fell into place. It was elementary! Obviously, drug-seeking Ottawa police officers had rushed down to my street corner and wrenched the door off of 160. No drugs! Then they waylaid an innocent homeless person, dumped out his shopping cart, and forced him out of his coat. No drugs! In a final desperate act, those police officers stormed the office in front of the Yangtze and kicked over the beggar’s chair.

I walked slowly on until I came to the crime scene on Gilmour Street. Ottawa police officers intercepted me as I was approaching the yellow police tape. “Sir!” they hissed. Their eyes had an eerie greenish glow. “Sir! Stay away from the tape!” I took off, but I got a picture from down the street. It was

Back at my street corner, the coverup was complete. No coat. The shopping cart was upright and empty, and there was a beggar in the office as usual.

Last night the Maple Leafs beat the Senators and Mayor Larry slept the sleep of the innocent. What will happen today? Will the planet be warmer or cooler? As Bob Dylan said, “You don’t need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows.” But I think it might help.

Maybe I’m mistaken about those drug-seeking Ottawa police officers. On second thought it could have been space aliens who abducted that homeless person right out of his coat and kicked over his shopping cart. Or Islamist terrorists. I bet it was Islamist terrorists. Or else that homeless person faked his own abduction and left his coat behind to prove it. Next he’ll probably fall into a coma and when he wakes up he’ll have amnesia and he won’t remember his name or where he left his coat. I learned all this on daytime TV and I know it to be true.<br
