St. Andrew’s presbyterian church has got this statue of Christ as a beggar. It’s pretty good. It just sits there in all kinds of weather. People sometimes put coins in its hand. (Of course they could give the coins to an actual beggar. Maybe giving them to the statue is something like putting them in a homeless meter: not so personal.)

And finally, it looks like Somerset House will be saved after all. The building seems to have been stabilized, and the street is open. Here’s how it looks now.
