Eat me

This is an out-of-season post for a rainy day.

I went down to Preston St. on a day in February. None of my pictures had pic of the day quality, but I wanted to show you some of them anyway.

Here’s the arch they have down there to show that it’s Little Italy.

This is under the Queensway. I tried to make something out of this picture, because I like the attitude in the young woman’s stride and the way she’s got a cigarette stuck dead centre in her gob, but I couldn’t do it. The light is poor in the underpass and I just couldn’t get the contrast to work, couldn’t get the detail I wanted. I might still try again sometime.

In front of the new government building. Although it’s similar to the one above and the lighting is better, this one never had as much potential.

Whenever I walk by this laneway I take a picture. It seems to have intriguing lights and shadows. Then when I get it home it isn’t anything. Maybe now that I’ve posted one I’ll stop wasting pixels on it.

Preston St. is booming with new businesses. A lot of them have cool signs. Here’s Stoneface Dolly’s Eat Me sign.

These folks have translated Kimchi into French. I wish them well but still I have to ask, How much kimchi is too much kimchi? Especially with SooRa gone.

Someone has gone to the trouble of making a stencil so they can put their message up on buildings, but I don’t know what it says or what it means. Any ideas?

Just one more. This is my popcorn popper. On that day in February I tortured it to within an inch of its life in Photoshop and Lightroom. (Well, I kind of like it.)

Bye for now… I hope you will enjoy this rainy day!

I think it says “I am alive so I take side’s”. A call against apathy, perhaps?

I thought it might be “…so I take space.” A call to stop harassing the homeless.

I saw “I am alive so I take sides”

    So did this person:

Still doesn’t make much sense :)

That one on Flickr is much clearer. It kind of takes the fun out of it.
Anyway, I was starting to lean toward “…so I take speed.” A call for legalization of narcotics.

I love the laneway photo. It looks like a carwash without any of the washing stuff. Kind of like a comment on expectations. And yes, there is far too much Kimchi in this part of the world

..so I take sides. I picture someone caught in the crossfire between two friends disagreeing, half apology, half rant of why do you put me in this position…

your popcorn maker looks busty somehow…

I wonder why taking sides seemed important enough to paint on walls. I think it’s something people do readily enough, without needing much encouragement.

-Pearl, my popcorn maker is thrilled that you noticed!

Maybe it’s like “I think, therefore I am”.

Jennifer: Yes, but so much less intelligent!
