Geez if that’s what they need for a gleaner I’d hate to see the size of the reaper, grim or otherwise.

Is “gleaner” a new word for a bunch of hooligans flattening someone’s garden with their big-assed ATV?

I looked up glean because I didn’t know what it meant. It means to go over a field that has already been harvested and pick up what’s left. Agrarian scavenging.

Interesting, we noticed a gleaner parked in a field near where we live and commented on the name. Then this week I heard on the radio that “gleanings” are a biblical term where the corners of the fields weren’t harvested and the fruit that falls to the ground not harvested to leave “gleanings” for the poor. Funny how something pops up repeatedly when you notice it for the first time.
