Beautiful bird! It’s a red-tailed hawk (as you can see from the red tail).

Thank you Lucy, I was hoping someone would identify it.

Nice to see a red-tailed hawk here. I didn’t know they came this far up north. I should look out for them. (I am not really a bird watcher, I learnt about them by osmosis from my brother when we were kids and the red-tailed hawk was one of his favourites.)

By the way, nice photos of Ottawa places. I sometimes browse through them, though I must say that I don’t share your negative feelings towards the Man with Two Hats. He is our favourite Ottawa landmark!

Oh well, I think the 2-hat guy can stand a little teasing ;)

I think he is a favourite with kids, including mine, who like to look at his big toes and crawl between his legs! Some of my son’s first words were “Man Two Hats”, as a toddler walking in the park by Dow’s lake. So I have a soft spot for the two-hat guy. I think you have a love-hate relationship with him since you have taken so many photos of him. :-)

Nice! I used to spend days at a time chasing redtails, and never got that close…
