Home Hardware on Simcoe is one of the few businesses that make it possible to live in Peterborough without a car. Almost all of the shopping here has been yanked out of the downtown and placed on two big-box strips: Lansdowne St. and Chemong Rd. The downtown has been hollowed out and left for dead.
I understand that most people here don’t care, because they commute to Toronto anyway. They live in cars and have no idea what I’m talking about.
