Oscar Peterson statue

It’s on Elgin, in front of the National Arts Centre. You can sit down beside him on the bench if you want to. I just love it.

I had no idea Oscar Peterson’s statue was in Ottawa. It is lovely and a real likeness too! I had the pleasure of hearing him perform in TO back when there was Massey Hall. He was brilliantly talented. We will have to pop by and visit…have a photo taken with him too.

I think it’s great. It was just unveiled on June 30, by the Queen no less.

I saw it that afternoon of the unveiling. There was a huge knot of people all waiting to get a place on the bench.

    Nice statue.

I saw it as it was being installed and took photos, but figured it would be bad taste to post photos of it before the royal reveal.

Now everybody and his dog has blogged about it, so it’s fallen down the list of blogging priorities.

I’m trying to teach my cat to blog so he can get in on the action.
