After I posted that, I got thinking this picture might be better if it was cropped as sort of a panorama. I brightened it up a bit too. What do you think?

when I was in Ottawa this past week I realized I had forgotten that everyone dresses warmly and appropriately for the weather, I live in Southern Ontario now and often find myself thinking, “Why don’t they wear hats?” on cold days …. great photo and nice to meet you.
Hi Kath. Nice meeting you too :)
me likes the first or top one. don’t know why but i just do – i like the darker one.

I like the second one.
Seems to me all the verticals in the first shot echo him.
In the second crop my eye was pulled right to the fencing in front of the building but I had to look back to see if it was there in the first shot.
I agree, Bandobras. I also like the skid marks in the right foreground. That’s from the Conservative government running off the rails.
I think the answer to my question is that they are completely different pictures. Thanks for your comments!
Chipping in late, here, but want to add to Bandobras’ comment. Like ‘em both, but the top one works best for me because the arched doorway echoes the hood’s shape so nicely. For an obsessive-compulsive kind of coyote, sometimes it’s all about the repeated patterns…
I’m not sure which one I prefer…I like the cropping in the first one, actually, but I do like the brightening of the photo. Both are great!
I’m still working on my husband, trying to convince him that he loves your “Love” photo as much as I do. In the meantime, I was looking on your site for another photo I thought he would like — one of the centre block of parliament that you had put through some sort of sepia-coloured filter. I can’t find it though…do you know which one I mean?
Hi Lynn,
Could it be Peace tower
http://www.robink.ca/blog/peace-tower,
or Peace tower 2?
