Oil slick

Oil slick

Later: I tried a tighter crop of this picture. I think I like it better. I’m interested in your opinion. I can’t believe how Van Gogh this is getting. It’s just an oil slick.

Here’s Van Gogh’s “Starry Night.” An undisputed masterpiece. Maybe the reason some people (including me) like my oil slick cropped tighter is because it more closely resembles the Van Gogh.

And now that we have Vincent spinning in his grave, I will stop comparing his masterpiece to a photograph of an oil slick.

Gorgeous! Almost looks like a city-scape with northern lights in a starry sky.

I’m glad you like it Patti. Beauty is wherever you find it, isn’t it?

I like the tighter crop better also. But I can’t explain why.

They’re gorgeous, but I think I like the first one better. The brown grounds the foreground, giving the whole thing more depth, making the blue recede and giving it a more sky-like appearance –much like the hills and the houses and, especially, the tree, work in the VanGogh.

I like the second one best. What’s the black and white part that looks like a piano keyboard?
