I think they are mountain ash. I take a picture like this every year when the first snowfalls pile up on the berries. How could I not?

They look just like the mountain ash berries outside my window. Every year I tell myself I should make something with them, but I never do. I understand they’re edible, but they definitely don’t taste very good.
The birds generally leave them alone until about February. I don’t know if it’s because they start to taste good then or because the birds are really hungry.
I thought they were poisonous. Don’t eat them!
