    A year ago I didn’t know this, but that’s a male eclectus parrot who plucks himself.

      You mean because he’s all scruffy around his neck? Is that because he’s stressed out?

        Yes, he pulls out his own feathers, generally on the chest and neck, whatever he can reach. It’s usually a psychological thing – boredom, anxiety, cage too small, not enough toys, something like that. Mind you, this guy gets to go out with his parrot girl, so he probably has a very good life. (Sometimes they pick up the habit of plucking and it lasts a lifetime, even if they move to a better home.)

          The parrot girl doesn’t own him though. As I recall there was a man on a downtown street corner with several birds. You had to pay him to get your picture taken with one of them sitting on your shoulder. They’re working birds.
