Wolf Blass

Only backwards.

This umbrella is at Burgers on Main, which is actually on Somerset near Bank. (It’s named for the original location, which is in Stittsville.)

This place started off on the wrong foot for me. It seems like a good idea … gourmet burgers and beer … and they give you a tub of popcorn to tide you over while you’re waiting. That is their signature touch, and it’s nice.

We went to sit at the best window table, in an empty restaurant, only to be told that someone had reserved it.

Can you really phone in and reserve the best table? I guess you can, at this place, and I hate it.

It made me mad. It made me feel like a second class citizen. But I tried to contain my irritation. I still wanted to enjoy my visit.

Since it isn’t much fun to sit in an empty restaurant with a reserved sign on the best (empty) table, we decided to move out to the patio. But they wouldn’t let us take our popcorn outside. They said it attracts animals.

grrrr…

Every little scrap of burger or bun or french fry that anybody drops on that patio is going to attract animals. It’s not just the popcorn! And anyway, squirrels are cute.

We liked the popcorn until we found out we weren’t allowed to have it.

The burgers were ok, pretty good actually. They use local beef. But by then the place had several strikes against it.

Horrible rock and roll radio that they use for music. No popcorn outside! And the best table reserved for somebody else.

Sorry Burgers on Main, but eating there was an unpleasant experience and I probably won’t go back.
