Year of the Tiger
February 15th, 2010

Say, isn’t that Tony? Tony the Tiger? He must have been let go during the layoffs at Kellogg’s.
No! It’s Chinese New Year! They’re having the lion dance parade down here in Chinatown.
Here’s one of the lions. Yes that’s Hello Kitty in his mouth. She’s everywhere, and so darn cute too.

The other lion.

China Doll was there, in all her glory…

And so was this very cute little girl.

This year there was a dragon too. This is the front of the dragon…

…and here is the back.

I like how they do a parade in Chinatown. Everybody has a good time, even the people at the wrong end of the dragon.
For some other parades, see these posts:

PS: Zoom has posted a video of the lion dance over at Knitnut.net.

I forgot it was Chinese New Year until I saw your photos. They are wonderful. I think the lion photo is so joyful.

I meant to add “other” lion photo. The hello kitty photo is good too, but not joy filled as the second.

Getting the face of the lion dancer is really cool.
Though I must stickle: that’s the Giant Tiger tiger, not Tony, who is orange.
