Ratatouille (2007)
November 24th, 2007

I didn’t expect to like this nearly as much as I did. In fact I think it’s brilliant. So does everybody else, it seems - Rotten Tomatoes gives it 97%, a very high rating for a current movie.
Even if you haven’t seen it, you’ve probably heard what it’s about. It’s about a rat who wants to be a Paris chef.
It’s from Pixar, now owned by Disney. Some of the characters are voiced by well-known actors, most notably Peter O’Toole as a restaurant critic and Janeane Garofolo as Colette.
This is as good as animated features get. The characters, the details, the rat’s eye view of a kitchen, and of Paris - all are brilliant. And as someone who has worked in a restaurant, I’d say this movie gets it. That’s what it’s like. (Especially the little bistro at the end, with the special rat section on the roof.)
I loved it.
