Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007)

I haven’t read any of the books and I missed the last movie, so I’m not really a fan. It did seem like there were quite a few things I should have known about from other movies, and characters I should have recognized, so it didn’t really stand alone all that well. But I kind of liked it anyway.

I liked how dark it was, and how for most of it nobody liked Harry much. And I liked the kids forming a league of magic to stand against repressive, misguided, possibly evil authorities.

I chose it for an evening when I didn’t really want to work very hard - no subtitles, please - and it fit the bill. I don’t think these movies are important, but what do I know? I’m just a visitor in this world. I found the movie entertaining enough.
